Project Description:
Winner of the Green Project of the Year Award, Roosevelt Community Center is an attractive new downtown community center. The 22.5 million dollar center is a 2-story 30,063 square foot building and secured Gold Level LEED certification. Smith & Sons Electric installed the Lutron EcoSystem lighting control system comprised of digital dimming ballasts, controls and environmental sensors, working together to save electricity, increase space flexibility, increase occupant comfort and productivity, and reduce maintenance costs.

Project Description:
Mills College Natural Sciences Building has received the Platinum LEED certificate, becoming the first building in Oakland to earn the highest certified rating in environmental design and construction, and the fourth building in the Bay Area to be Platinum Certified. The 26,000 square foot 17 million dollar state of the art facility is 90 percent more energy efficient than a typical lab in the Bay Area and 45 percent more efficient than required by state law. Smith & Sons Electric installed automatic day light sensors, dimming ballasts, lighting control, the photovoltaic system providing over 30 percent of the building's electrical needs, water reclamation recycling system, and emergency generator.

Project Description:
Fremont Detention Facility is a 2-story poured in place Detention Facility with a full basement. Detainees are housed in concrete retaining rooms with full security and video observation systems. Smith & Sons Electric was contracted for both the building electrical and security systems. The construction was performed under the supervision of the State Bureau of Prisons.

Project Description:
State of the art science and research facility consisting of 57,000 square foot building, including a science courtyard which includes bio-environments and a DNA stairway. The building also incorporated sustainable building design components into the construction of the Science Complex, which was constructed for the San Jose/Evergreen Community College District. The construction manager, Swinerton Builders, used a multi-prime contract delivery system for this project, contracting direction with Smith & Sons Electric for the high and low voltage systems for this complex research facility.

Washington Hospital is located in Fremont, CA. This particular facility was designed as a 300,000 square foot satellite outpatient care facility. Smith & Sons Electric installed new transformers, switchgear, life safety systems, mechanical equipment, site lighting, power, building lights, and a 700 foot walk-over bridge to the main hospital facility.
